Richmond PD: Man arrested after stealing car, leading officers on chase
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Richmond Police arrested a man after they say he stole a car and led police on a chase overnight.
According to the authorities, a woman called police to report that her car had been stolen overnight from her parking spot along Marrow Drive in Richmond. The woman told police that she likely left her keys inside the vehicle.
Early Tuesday morning, a Richmond Police officer on patrol spotted the stolen car near the intersection of the Eastern Bypass and Leighway Drive. The officer stopped the vehicle and tired to detain the male driver but he resisted and ran off.
Police say they caught 18-year-old Kevin Bowen after a short foot pursuit and arrested him.
When police searched the car, officers found several pipes belonging to Bowen that contained suspected methamphetamine residue. The vehicle’s owner was called to the scene and told officers that several items of property were missing from her vehicle.
Bowen is charged with theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police and receiving stolen property. A bench warrant from the Madison District Court for failure to appear was also served, police say.
