Richmond man arrested on drug charges during traffic stop

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Richmond man has been arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop early Monday morning.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop for a traffic violation on Berea Road just before 2:30 Monday morning. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Charles Sparks, and also detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
As a result of the traffic stop and subsequent search of the vehicle, Sparks was arrested. He’s charged with traffic/equipment violations, along with trafficking in a controlled substance including methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana. Sparks is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
