Richmond man accused of attacking police officer

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Richmond man is accused of punching a police officer in the face, and ripping his uniform shirt.

Police say 21-year-old Devin Meeks was intoxicated Wednesday when he was arrested at his home on George Street. Investigators say Meeks threw his girlfriend into several walls of the apartment, and bit her on the arm. When police arrived and tried to keep him away from the woman, they say he attacked the officer.

Police say they had to use a taser on Meeks to take him into custody. Investigators say he’s charged with Assault 4th Degree (Domestic Violence), Assault 3rd Degree – Police Officer and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree.
