Richmond City Commission rejects police pay raise proposal
RICHMOND, Ky. (RICHMOND REGISTER/WTVQ) – The Richmond City Commission voted 4-to-1 Tuesday to reject a proposed police pay scale that would have included raises every two years for most police officers in addition to cost of living raises, according to a report in the Richmond Register.
Police officials say the department continues to lose experienced officers to other communities that pay police officers more and that it makes it harder to attract and recruit new officers because of the pay scale.
City commissioners want to work out a new, counter proposal going forward.
