Retired sheriff appointed interim Robertson County sheriff after Terry Gray’s resignation
ROBERTSON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Robertson County officials have appointed a familiar face to lead the sheriff’s office following last week’s resignation of former Sheriff Terry Gray.
Former Sheriff Randy Insko has agreed to come out of retirement to serve as interim sheriff until the next election. Gray stepped down after his third DUI arrest in less than two years.
Robertson County Judge-Executive Valerie Miley says Insko was chosen after consulting with county magistrates, citing his 21 years of law enforcement experience as key to guiding the department during this transition.
Miley added that the interim appointment is intended to ensure fairness, allowing voters to decide who will permanently fill the role in the next election.
Insko’s appointment is effective immediately, and he will remain in office until a new sheriff is elected.
