Resolutions Prove Beneficial For Gyms And Individuals
New year, new you. Many of us set fitness goals in 2015 but while you’re hoping to shrink your waist, your gym is hoping to expand its profits.
"Business definitely picks up. More people come in, obviously New Year’s resolutioners come in, wanting to sign up, get started," said Stefan Mitchell, membership representative at Lexington Athletic Club.
At L.A.C., Mitchell anticipates to triple, even quadruple new memberships this January and February, compared to the rest of the year.
"Definitely a boom as far as the frequency and the number of memberships that we get," he said.
Members like Olivia Jones have been at L.A.C. for awhile but still set goals to be more consistent.
"And organized, more organized and more consistent," added Jones.
Mitchell said the first of the year doesn’t only mean new members. Some who fell off the wagon in 2014 will look to drop back in.
"All the time people are coming back in. They tried it last year, it didn’t work out well for them. They attempted to get started, tried to get moving and obviously work and life gets in the way and they can come back for another shot at it next time the New Year runs around."
It’s the time of year that makes pitching a new membership, a little easier.
"I would tell you how awesome our deals are right now. We’ve got deals going on that we’ve never had any other time of the year."
