Residents return home after gas line break
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Crews have capped a natural gas line break east of Louisville that injured at least two people and closed down a stretch of U.S. 42 in Oldham County.
North Oldham Fire Protection district spokesman Rick Albers told WAVE-TV (http://bit.ly/1mhIN3g) that Louisville Gas and Electric workers capped the leak Wednesday at about 9 p.m. He said residents who had been evacuated from 15 homes were allowed to return.
Oldham County dispatch shift supervisor Tom McCane said two people were transported to hospitals after the incident, which was reported at about 5 p.m.
Abers said neither of the injured workers suffered life-threatening injuries.
LG&E spokeswoman Chris Whalen says about 2,400 LG&E customers will be without gas service for up to three days. She said crews would go door-to-door to relight pilot lights.
