Rescuers search for man after canoe capsizes
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky Fish and Wildlife personnel and Laurel Co. Emergency Management, among others, are searching for a man who disappeared after his canoe overturned in the Rockcastle Co. River.
Rescuers say a father and son were canoeing together Tuesday evening when the boat turned over. Both were able to get out of the water, but when the father went back into the water to try and salvage items in the boat, he didn’t resurface.
According to Laurel Co. Emergency Management the son attempted to rescue his 70-year-old father but was unable to do so.
Rescuers are now searching the river off of HWY 1956 near the Laureal Co./Rockcastle Co. line.
