Report: Letcher Co. school bus involved in crash, several injured
LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — At least six ambulances took students to a local hospital after a Letcher County bus crashed Friday afternoon.
The crash involved a school bus and a tractor-trailer around 1 p.m. near Flat Gap, according to a report from The Mountain Eagle newspaper.
The bus was carrying Arlie Boggs Elementary students. How many students were injured and the extent of their injuries is unknown; only that several students were injured and taken to the hospital.
The bus rolled onto its side partly in the Poor Fork of the Cumberland River.
The road is a narrow, two-lane, with many spots barely wide enough for a truck and a passenger vehicle to pass, the newspaper added.
Letcher County Schools released early because of a power outage caused by wind.
