Rental house scam circulating Rowan Co.

ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is warning people of a scam about using Zillow for rental properties.

They say they have received complaints from people who have mailed deposits to hold rental property found on Zillow. After the deposit was received, victims learned the scammer has used photos of local addresses in Rowan County, but did not own the property.

The sheriff’s office says to not mail any deposits for rental property without first verifying the person you are mailing your deposit to owns the property.
