Renovations planned for Buckhorn Lake state resort park lodge

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) Gov. Matt Bevin announced planned renovations at Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, including a new roof for the lodge facility Tuesday.

The project will replace the roof over the lodge room wings and business office and repair the roof decking, gutters and downspouts.

Gov. Bevin says, “Buckhorn State Resort Park is home to some of Kentucky’s most dramatic and beautiful landscapes and is a jewel in our state park system.”

The state park system is facing deferred maintenance costs of $234 million. Gov. Bevin and lawmakers provided an extra $18 million in 2016 that funded 133 ‘Refreshing the Finest parks’ projects.

An additional $20 million was approved this year for parks projects and maintenance.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park has a 36-room lodge, cottages, restaurant, marina, beach, and 1,200-acre lake.
