Remote control aircraft buzzing into Lebanon for event

LEBANON, Ky. (AP) — Hundreds of remote control aircraft will buzz into central Kentucky next month for an annual event at the Lebanon-Springfield Airport.

It’s the 11th year of Jets Over Kentucky Week, which will attract about 200 remote control aircraft enthusiasts from around the world. Opening ceremonies are Saturday, July 11, but the city says pilots and fans are welcome for the week, beginning July 5.

There will be mini-aircraft of all kinds: F-15s, F-4 Phantoms, a B-1 Bomber and even an SR-71 spy plane that is over 13 feet long.

Throughout the week, spectators are invited to watch the pilots practice routines. Pilots from the U.S., Spain, Asia, Iceland and Europe are expected to attend this year’s event.
