Remembering Officer Kevin Chaney

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Fayette County Detention Center is mourning the loss of one of its officers, who died unexpectedly over the weekend.

According to the Department of Community Corrections, Officer Kevin Chaney passed away while off duty. He joined the department in June 2023 and was serving as a first-shift custody officer at the jail.

In a statement, officials said Chaney leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten.

No details about the cause of death have been released.
