Remembering Martin Luther King Jr.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s the 50th anniversary of the tragic event of Martin Luther King Junior’s assassination.

A sniper’s bullet took the life of the American civil right’s activist and Nobel Peace Prize recipient on April 4, 1968.

The shooting occurred at the Lorraine Motel, 450 Mulberry Street in Memphis, Tennessee. The location is now home of the National Civil Rights Museum.

On this day of remembrance, the People’s Campaign and Save our Schools Kentucky are hosting the MLK Memorial March to Move event at the State Capitol in Frankfort, down Capital Avenue.

The march will start at 1:30 p.m.

ABC 36’s reporter Christy Bollinger will be out there to get the story.
