Remembering Kierra Green
Many people would struggle with saying goodbye to a daughter, just 18 years old, but Dinah Walker said she understands.
"I didn’t want to lose her at that young age, but the lord loved her more. It was her time to go and I have to accept that," said Walker.
Walker said her daughter was a caring individual. She was always "taking care of Mama and everyone else."
Hundreds came to Hayden Park in Nicholasville to light candles in memory of Kierra, saying how much they missed her.
Along with remembering Kierra, the message of Thursday’s vigil was about change.
"I don’t want to live life like that anymore. I’m ready to break every single chain. Break murder, suicide, violence and rape," said David Wallace, pastor at The Fellowship church.
Speakers also asked young people to quit living a dangerous lifestyle and to find Jesus Christ.
Walker had a special message for her daughter.
"I would tell Kierra that I love her and that she done an amazing job. And that your legacy will live on together. That she has brought many many young people together who have not been together in a long time. And that she has aided bringing out family closer together," said Walker.
