Remains confirmed as missing man; Family’s second tragedy this month
WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — The Wolfe County Coroner has confirmed that George Neace, 50, who disappeared last Wednesday, fell off a 50 foot waterfall. ABC 36 talked to a family that’s now suffering through a second tragedy, in just the last few weeks.
“It’s just horrifying. I don’t know how to take it. It’s just awful,” says Shirley Neace.
Shirley Neace’s pain is indescribable. A mother, who lost her son about three weeks ago after a fiery crash. Troopers say Elmer Jr. Neace somehow lost control and hit a tree in Bourbon County. He was pronounced dead at the scene. George Neace, Elmer’s Uncle, didn’t take the news well.
“He started crying really bad, and he said I gotta get to Shirley and help her. And he did, he came to me,” says Neace.
Shirley says when George got to her, he just wasn’t himself. “He was quiet for a few days,” she says.
And the last few words he told her. “He just said I’ll walk around.”
George disappeared Wednesday night, and never returned. He even missed his nephew’s funeral.
“He wouldn’t have missed his funeral for the world,” says Neace.
The Wolfe County Coroner says George fell off a 50 foot waterfall. Shirley says it happened so close to home. A family that’s trying to make sense of it all. It’s something that just doesn’t seem real.
“It’s like George is going to show up anytime, or Junior is going to call me or text me, anytime. I look for it every day,” says Shirley.
