Red ribbon week promotes staying drug free

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – We are in the midst of red ribbon week which is all about staying drug free.

Federal prosecutors say opioids are responsible for the most overdose deaths in Kentucky followed by meth.

“Red Ribbon Week is another opportunity to call attention to the opioid epidemic and other types of substance abuse disorders,” said Mayor Linda Gorton.

National drug take back day falls within red ribbon week.

On Saturday, there will be 16 collection sites across the state for people to drop off expired and unused prescription drugs, vaping devices, or cartridges.
