Recycling center temporarily closes again over mechanical problem
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington’s recycling center will shut down for two days this week to make repairs to one of its machines.
The city says the center will close Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7, because of a problem with the machine that separates aluminum cans from other materials.
The replacement part is expected to arrive Friday.
The city say recyclables will still be collected during the shutdown so people can put out their carts as usual.
The recycling center is expected to reopen on Monday.
The recycling center also closed temporarily in April for a mechanical problem.
The city says the problems are caused by wet recycling materials that place additional stress on the machines.
It asks people to keep their recyclables dry by closing lids on carts and dumpster to prevent moisture from getting in.
