Gobble Grease Toss returns Friday for post-Thanksgiving oil recycling

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – If you’re planning to fry a turkey or end up with leftover cooking oil after Thanksgiving, Lexington officials are encouraging residents to recycle it during the city’s annual “Gobble Grease Toss.”

The free drop-off event takes place Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Redwood Cooperative School on Crestwood Drive.

Officials remind participants to bring used cooking oil in a disposable, hard-sided container with a secure lid. The oil collected during the event will be sent to the University of Kentucky, where it will be used for biofuel research.
