Recovering from floods ahead of heavy snow
HAZARD, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As residents of Hazard continue to recover from the devastating weekend floods, they are now preparing for another challenge—heavy snowfall.
Homes and businesses remain covered in thick mud, with shattered windows, displaced furniture, and lost belongings marking the aftermath of the flooding. Assistant County Attorney Sam Collins described the extent of the damage, saying, “Everything from about five feet below is just a loss—computers, copiers, printers.”
While crews work to clear mud-covered roads, the looming winter storm threatens to complicate recovery efforts. Officials are urging residents to stay prepared as cleanup efforts continue ahead of the expected snowfall.
