Recently Retired EKU Employee Killed In Mowing Accident

A recently retired employee at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond died Monday morning in a tragic lawn mowing accident.

Authorities said Harold Denham, 63, of Lincoln County, was making a turn on wet grass on an incline when the mower turned over on him, pinning him against a fence.

Investigators said it happened at his home outside of Hustonville.

He was found by his wife who had gone to check on him.

The Lincoln County Sheriff said Denham died from asphyxiation.

EKU said Denham began working for the school in 1985.

He first retired as office manager in Facilities Services in 2002.

He returned to work at Eastern and retired a second time on July 1, 2013, as assistant director of administrative support services in Facilities Services.
