Recent mass shootings has locals concerned

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two days of terror and carnage in two states.

This comes after two mass shootings happening within hours of each other that killed almost 30 people, and injured a dozen others in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

A gruesome tragedy for many in the United States.

After a weekend of tragedy, Lexington resident Chantee Jordan says she’s concerned.

” It’s very scary to me,” said Jordan. ” Because you truly never know what a person is dealing with.”

Chantee Jordan has friends who lives in Dayton, Ohio.

She says when she heard the news on Sunday morning, she immediately picked up the phone.

” I checked on them this morning,” said Jordan.” They are scared and shocked but they’re safe.”

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin expressed his thoughts and concerns on Twitter saying,” The hearts of Kentuckians break tonight with those of our fellow Americans in Texas. ” Yet another heartbreaking tragedy unfolded last night in our neighboring state of Ohio.” We have a cultural and spiritual crisis taking place in America.” To think otherwise is to turn a blind eye to reality.” May God heal our land.”

Lexington resident Davita Hawkins says she’s highly concerned about gun violence.

” Some mother, some father has lost a son or daughter,” said Hawkins.” Some child has lost a mother or father and for what? ” All the violence needs to stop.”
