RECALL ALERT: Rattles recalled for possible choking hazard
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that company Kids II has recalled Oball Rattles due to reports of the plastic disc in it breaking and releasing small beads that are a possible choking hazard to young children.
The rattles are in pink, green, blue, and orange, with model number 81031 printed on the inner surface of one of the plastic discs and on the packaging.
The rattles are in the shape of a ball and have 28 finger holes. In the rattles, there are clear plastic discs with all orange beads and two clear plastic discs with beads of varying colors. Only rattles with date codes T0486, T1456, T2136, T2856, and T3065 located in the small triangle on the inner surface of the rattle are included in the recall.
CPSC reports that there have been 42 reports of the plastic discs breaking and releasing the beads, two reports of the beads being found in children’s mouths, and three reports of children gagging on the beads.
People who have bought the Oball Rattles are asked to take them away from young children and contact Kids II for a full refund. You can call toll free 877-243-7314 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit www.kidsii.com.
