Rand Paul’s son pleads guilty to DUI

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The son of Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in Lexington last month.

William Paul was cited for DUI on April 19th when police say he crashed a pickup truck the back of an unoccupied parked car along Woodland Avenue.   See previous story here.

Police reports obtained by ABC 36 News say Paul was treated at the University of Kentucky hospital for minor injuries to his face and was cited for DUI at the hospital

Paul will have his license suspended for 45 days and had to pay more than $700 in fines. He will also be referred to an alcohol abuse treatment program.

ABC 36 News reached out to Senator Rand Paul’s campaign, they said the senator does not comment on any private matters in regards to his family.

Paul was also cited for failure to maintain insurance on the vehicle he was driving. His attorney showed the vehicle’s insurance at court on Wednesday and the charge was dropped.
