Railroad crossing accident in Jessamine Co.; no injuries reported
JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Deputies with the Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a railroad crossing accident, but luckily no one was hurt.
Deputies say around 8:45 Thursday morning, a semi tractor trailer being driven by 66-year-old Souren Arakelian hit the crossing light and a concrete barrier after trying to turn around on Bakers Lane, just off US 27 in Nicholasville.
They say a Norfolk Southern train was a few minutes from where Arakelian was blocking the railroad crossing. The train was able to be stopped and crews repaired the crossing light.
No injuries were reported.
