Racial slurs and satanic graffiti vandalize Anderson County park

Lawrenceburg, KY (WTVQ) – A playground is supposed to be a place kids can play but some disturbing graffiti recently showed up at the Anderson Community Park.

Some parents are upset and deputies are trying to figure out who is responsible.

Officers say the women’s restroom was covered with racial slurs and satanic messages sometime Saturday afternoon.

Officers say two girls were seen on surveillance video walking into the restroom then leaving an hour later.  They have been named ‘people of interest’ and officers want to talk with them.

The restrooms were closed while park maintenance cleaned the graffiti off the doors and appliances then painted over the walls.  The restrooms reopened on Monday.

ABC 36 found more of the graffiti inside one of the playground tubes Friday afternoon and alerted Parks and Recreation.

Richard Spencer walks at the Anderson Community Park nearly every day and he hates to see vandalism like this at a community park.

“Just the idea of what they said plus tearing up public property; we all have a vested interested in this park,” said Spencer.

Park maintenance is still totaling up the cost and labor it took to clean everything up but the sheriff’s office says if it is more than $1,000, the vandalism could become a felony.
