Quaynell King murder suspect due in court

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The suspect accused of killing Lexington community activist Quaynell King is set to appear in court Thursday afternoon for an arraignment.

Lexington Police say 20-year-old Tiquan Anderson was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in connection to the December 1 shooting of 44-year-old Quaynell King on Versailles Road. According to the Fayette County Coroner, King later died at UK Hospital from his injuries.

Anderson’s arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.

King was well-known for his commitment to serving the Lexington community. In the wake of his passing, a GoFundMe account has been created to support his two children and continue his mission. The fundraiser has already raised more than $1,500.

A memorial service to honor King’s life is scheduled for Saturday at Consolidated Baptist Church on Russell Cave Road. According to family members, visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon.
