Puppy returned after teens found with stolen dog, cars
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say they have reunited a 4-month old pit bull puppy with her owner after finding the dog inside a car that was reported stolen.
“Contessa” was reported stolen on Monday from her yard on Elm Tree Lane, along with two other dogs.
Officers say they found the puppy after being called to the parking lot of Tates Creek Centre about suspicious activity involving juveniles, and vehicles that were reported stolen.
When police got there, they say several juveniles ran, leading to a short foot pursuit. Three teen boys were apprehended, and “Contessa” was found in one of the cars.
Two of the boys apprehended are 14-years-old and the other is 13. They are each charged with two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of fleeing.
The investigation is ongoing and police are working to locate the two other puppies that were stolen from the home.
