Pulaski County man back in court on murder charges

SCIENCE HILL, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Pulaski County man accused in a brutal attack that left two family members dead and another seriously injured is back in Kentucky and expected in court Thursday for a pretrial conference.

Austin Prather was extradited to Kentucky following his arrest in Indiana last November. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, robbery, and tampering with evidence.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Prather is accused of shooting and killing his father and grandfather, and stabbing and shooting his grandmother during an attack at a home on Raleigh Road in Science Hill.

Deputies say Prather fled the area after the incident and was located later that same night in Indiana.

The victims have been identified as 67-year-old Ardyth Prather Jr. and 43-year-old Ardyth Prather III. His grandmother survived the attack and continues to recover.

The case remains under investigation.
