Pulaski County Coroner Admits To Stealing More Than $60,000 From Funeral Home

Pulaski County’s Coroner is stepping down after admitting he stole more than $60,000 from a funeral home he once worked at.

The Commonwealth Journal Newspaper says Richard New will leave his elected position as part of a plea deal.

New admitted Thursday that he stole the money from Lake Cumberland Funeral Home- a job he left in 2011.

The paper says new’s 10-year prison sentence will be diverted.

So if he stays out of trouble over the next 5 years, he wont spend any time in jail.
