Prosecutor offers plea deal to 2 city officials

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The Jefferson County attorney’s office has offered a plea deal to two Metro Louisville officials arrested last week on misdemeanor charges.

Steven Rowland, the city’s chief financial officer, and City Council Majority Caucus Director Elizabeth Hoffman were arrested on Jan. 2 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Media report both would be required to perform 20 hours of community service, stay away from the location where they were arrested and admit there was enough evidence to prosecute the case. If they accept the deal and abide by conditions, the charges will be dismissed.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 20.

County attorney spokeswoman Jessie Halladay says the offer "is consistent with what we would offer defendants with similar charges and no criminal history."
