Trail ride to support victim in babysitter child abuse case
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A trail ride this weekend will support a child in Nicholasville who was allegedly abused by her babysitter in 2016.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, there will be a 4×4 trail ride in support of Kylie Jo Sizemore.
The ride will be in Strunk, Kentucky at the Horseman’s Arena, off East Marsh Creek Road. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.
At 11:30 a.m., the trail ride will begin, escorted by deputies from the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office. Event organizers hope to raise awareness about child abuse.
Kylie Jo was just four months old when Nicholasville Police say her babysitter, Erin Thompson, abused her.
“It’s a parent’s worst nightmare,” said the child’s mother, Natasha Sizemore. “We lost a part of our daughter that we’ll never get back.”
Sizemore says her daughter suffered traumatic brain damage, broken ribs and several other injuries. She says they don’t know if she’ll ever fully recover.
“She can walk and that’s something that we never knew if she was going to be capable of doing,” said Sizemore.
Erin Thompson has pleaded not guilty to the charges. She could go on trial in early 2018.
