Project to replace Germantown Road bridge begins this month in Mason County
MASON COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will replace an aging bridge on KY 3056 (Germantown Road) in Mason County beginning this month.
The bridge – located over the South Fork of Lawrence Creek about a mile west of the Tuckahoe Road (KY 576) intersection at mile marker 3.5 – must be closed beginning May 24 so contractors can remove the old structure and construct a new concrete-beam bridge in its place.
Germantown Road will remain closed at that location until the project is complete in mid-July. During the closure, through traffic on Germantown Road may reroute using the AA Highway (KY 9) and US 68. Signs will mark the detour.
The project is being done by RGF, Inc., under a $557,893.71 low-bid Transportation Cabinet contract through the Bridging Kentucky program.
The Bridging Kentucky program is a commitment to improving safety and soundness of the Commonwealth’s bridges by rehabilitating, repairing, or replacing critical bridges throughout the state. The program is designed to open closed structures, improve bridge lifespans, ensure appropriate weight capacities are met, and improve access and mobility for all Kentuckians.
