Principal: Student brought two knives to school

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The principal of Southern Middle School sent a letter to parents today about a 6th grader who brought to knives to school Monday.

In the letter, Principal Frank Coffey says they immediately contacted the FCPS Department of Law Enforcement.  He says that no students were ever in harm’s way as a result of the knives.  He also says that after consulting with the student, that he believes there was no intention to harm or threaten anyone at the school.

The principal advises parents that knives are not allowed on school campus, and is encouraging families to reinforce the importance of not bringing dangerous items to school.
