Primary Election’s recanvass request deadline has passed

LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) — The deadline for candidates to request a recanvass in the May 19 Primary Election has passed, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes has announced.

The deadline to submit a written request to the Secretary of State’s office for a recanvass was 4 p.m., Eastern Time, today, per Kentucky law.

County boards of elections will gather the morning of May 28 to recheck and recanvass the voting machines, says Director of Communications Alison Grimes. Immediately after the completed recanvass, county boards of elections will file those reports with the Secretary of State.
