Preparing For A Water Outage

Heather Hilliard of Lexington says her water was shut off for two days after a water line burst near her apartment.

She had little water stored inside and had to buy more at the store for drinking, washing her hands, and other daily tasks.

In a larger disaster, grocery stores are more likely to be out of water.

The American Red Cross recommends being prepared for an emergency by having at least 3 gallons of water for each person in your home.

The water should be part of a larger disaster kit with other supplies such as non-perishable food, flashlights, and batteries.
