Preakness prep

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Todd Pletcher likes the two week gap between the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

Many wanted it to be a longer period after a 37-year Triple Crown drought, but American Pharoah took care of that.

Now, maybe the talk should be there’s too much time between races?

Pletcher’s Always Dreaming could run and run fine right now, but he’ll have to wait until Saturday at Pimlico.

So the verdict?  Keep everything the way it’s been and let each year unfold as it happens.  Every year, every horse and every race, is different.

Smaller field, great post position and renewed vigor and energy all have the connections of Classic Empire feeling good about the Preakness.

Trainer Mark Casse says he has a newfound respect for Always Dreaming after the Derby, so how does Casse see Saturday playing out with the two horses side-by-side in the starting gate?

Check out the video to hear from both trainers.
