Powell County Creeks Flood
Sunday was the second time the part of their house built on lower ground has flooded. It’s a room for their nine grandchildren to gather.
"Water came in from the creek and went all up on both sides of my house," said Lacy.
The National Weather Service in Jackson issued a flood warning for central Powell County Sunday night.
It was for Hatcher Creek, Cane Creek, Lower Cane Creek, Right Fork Cane Creek and Middle Fork Cane Creek. It went through 4 a.m.
Some roads were closed for safety like State Highway 1037.
The Lacy’s knew what to do as soon as they saw the creek invade their yard.
"She started sweeping out the rain water. We moved all the furniture to that side of the room," said Lacy.
He said none of their things were damaged, but now their Labor Day will be about putting their family room back together.
