Portion of Middlesboro City Hall closing due to rise in COVID-19 cases, drop box for bill payments

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – Middlesboro City Hall will be closed Aug. 30 through Sept. 10 as it relates to paying water bills and code enforcement, according to a Facebook post by Mayor Rick Nelson.
The Bell County Sheriff’s Office on the first floor will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for vehicle inspections, according to the social media post.
The move is the result of a spike in COVID-19 cases.
People needing to schedule a meeting with code enforcement can call 606-248-5670, extension 109, 110 or 111.
Those needing to pay a bill can use the yellow drop box outside City Hall.
The mayor’s social media post is below:
From Mayor Nelson:
We have made a decision to close Middlesboro City Hall for 10 days, starting August 30th, as it relates to the payment of water bills and codes enforcement, and ending on September 10th. We have been told that the Sheriff’s office, located on the first floor, will remain open from 10 to 2 for car inspections.
We are concerned about the spiking of Covid numbers and want to do this to protect our employees and the citizens. If you need to schedule a meeting with codes enforcement, you still may do so at 248-5670, extension 109/110 or 111.
I know this is an inconvenience, but we feel that we need to do this. If you need to pay a bill you can still use our yellow drop box just outside of City Hall. If you have any questions call me at 670-8307. Again this starts next Monday the 30th and will run through September 10th.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we try to get through this crisis together.
