Police: Using taser on man probably saved his life
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Officers taser a man they say was reaching into his pocket, later learning there was a gun inside.
Harrodsburg Police say the officers responded to Lexington Road on Sunday to a report of an intoxicated man who pointed a gun at a woman.
They say Bobby Payne, Jr. was asked to show his hands and get on the ground. He refused and when he began reaching into his pocket, police say an officer used a taser on him.
Officers say there was a struggle and Payne was finally arrested.
They say when they checked the pocket he was reaching into, they found a loaded gun.
The Harrodsburg Police Department says the officers would have been justified using deadly force, but were able to stop the situation without having to do so.
