Police: Two Lexington Burglaries Could Be Related

Two Lexington businesses were broken into early Wednesday morning and police said they believe the burglaries are related.

Lexington Police said the first burglary happened at Up in Smoke Liquor and Tobacco on New Circle around 1:30 a.m.

One of the suspects smashed the front window of business and went inside the store while a second suspect waited outside, police said.

According to police the suspect inside began taking items, but believe he got spooked when he heard sirens from responding police cars.

Police said they found a majority of the stolen items outside the store.

Then, a few hours later, police said they believe the two suspects tried again at the Marathon gas station on Alexandria Drive.

Police said one of the suspects used a rock to smash the window, got inside and stole cigarettes.

Police said in both incidents the suspects were seen driving away from the stores in a maroon Pontiac Gran Prix.

The suspects are described as two men wearing dark blue hoodies and blue jeans, police said. They used blue bandanas to cover their faces
