Police track suspect after he leaves jacket behind

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a robbery suspect got away with some cash but left behind something valuable for investigators.

Court documents say on the morning of May 6th, a man said he was making a purchase at a business on Loudon Avenue to get change for rent.

He says, as he was placing the cash into his wallet, 38-year-old James Bell reached from behind him, grabbed it.. and ran out of the store.

Documents say the victim chased and tackled Bell and grabbed his jacket, which Bell slipped out of before getting away from the scene in a car.

Police say Bell’s driver’s license and social security card were found in the jacket pocket.

They were able to eventually track down Bell using that information.

Documents say Bell also robbed the Sally’s Beauty Supply store on Sir Barton Way on the same day as the other robbery.
