Police: Suspected Burglar Jumps From Second Story Balcony, Gets Away

Lexington police say a suspected burglar jumped off of a second story balcony to escape the home on East High Street he had taken items from early Tuesday morning.

The resident of that home, Alex Wolodkiewicz, said he woke up to his bedroom door creaking open around 3:30 a.m.

Wolodkiewicz, a college student, said he saw a man he did not know looking around his room with the flashlight feature on his cell phone.  He said they made eye contact and then the stranger took off.

The resident described the suspect as 6’1” tall, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans.  He also said the man had a bag.

Police said Wolodkiewicz’s Xbox gaming system was stolen. Wolodkiewicz also said beer was stolen from the home’s refrigerator.

Officers said the suspect got away by jumping off the second-story balcony.  They said he landed on a trash can on the ground.

Officers said there were no signs of a forced entry.

Wolodkiewicz said witnesses on the street saw the suspect take off down Park Avenue.

Police said they are still searching for the suspect.
