UPDATE: Suspect in custody following standoff in Nicholasville

UPDATE: (7/26/16, 5:33 p.m.) – A standoff in Nicholasville has ended with the arrest of a man who refused to come out of a home.

Police say 39-year-old Shawn Barnett was taken into custody just after 4 p.m.

Authorities say they have been searching for Barnett for two days after he was released from the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Barnett was arrested Monday and charged with kidnapping. He was released on a $1,000 bond even though he was on felony probation when he was charged with kidnapping, according to police.

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Nicholasville police are at the scene of a standoff at a home in Nicholasville.

Police say a man in the home on North Central Avenue is refusing to come out.

The standoff began shortly after 12 p.m. Thursday.

The neighborhood has not been evacuated.
