Police: Sleepy Drivers Behind Back-to-Back Accidents
Crews responded to two back-to-back accidents in Lexington overnight and police said both were due to sleepy drivers.
The first accident happened at 1:40 a.m. on Todds Road and North Cleveland.
Police said the driver of a Kia fell asleep at the wheel, went off the road and hit a tree.
The driver was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Shortly after responding to that accident, police got another call about a crash on Leestown Road.
According to police, the driver reported falling asleep at the wheel before striking a pole and breaking it.
A passenger in the car was taken to the hospital.
Kentucky Utilities was called to the scene to repair the pole.
