One person arrested after shots fired, robbery, and hit-and-run sequence across Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One person has been arrested after a series of connected incidents Tuesday night that included shots fired, a carjacking, and a hit-and-run, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Police say the investigation began around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, when officers were called to the 1700 block of Jennifer Road for reports of shots fired. Before officers arrived, the vehicles involved left the area.

About 30 minutes later, officers were sent to the 100 block of West New Circle Road for a reported robbery. According to police, one of the vehicles from the earlier shots-fired incident had pulled into a business parking lot, where the suspect allegedly stole another vehicle at gunpoint and drove off.

Police say the suspect then fled in the stolen vehicle and was involved in a hit-and-run crash on North Broadway near Fourth Street. With assistance from the department’s Real-Time Intelligence Center, officers were able to track the vehicle and later located the suspect at a local hospital.

Michael Peak, 34, was arrested and charged with carjacking, first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid. He is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the shots-fired incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Lexington Police at (859) 258-3600. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers at (859) 253-2020 or at www.bluegrasscrimestoppers.com.
