Police search for driver involved in RV fire, accident involving cruiser

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police find an RV on fire in Lexington and say it may be the same one involved in two hit-and-run accidents over the weekend – one involving a police cruiser.

Police say the RV was discovered on fire just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Old Lemons Mill Road.

No one was inside or around the RV when they arrived.

They believe the RV was the same one that struck an officer’s cruiser on Newtown Pike about an hour earlier.

The officer was responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle and when he tried to talk to the driver, police say the driver rammed the cruiser and took off.

Police think the RV was also involved in another hit-and run on Saturday near Loudon Avenue.

Police ran the license plate and contacted the owners, who are out of state and say the RV was stolen.
