Police say sweatshirt led them to robbery suspect

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a sweatshirt led to the arrest of a Lexington man.

According to police, 18-year-old Derien Richardson was behind a robbery at a Circle K gas station in Lexington back in March.

Court documents say Richardson and another man were wearing masks when they robbed the store at gunpoint.

Surveillance video from the store showed one of the suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the number “94” on the chest.

Police recognized the hooded sweatshirt from Richardson’s Facebook page, according to court documents.

They say the sweatshirt was later found in a car that was stolen, then crashed, in Lexington. Police say a witness told them Richardson had been in the car.

The witness also told police Richardson bragged about robbing the Circle K.
