Police say man was selling drugs near elementary school pick-up line

LANCASTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Lancaster man is accused of dealing drugs near the parent pick-up line at an elementary school.

The Lancaster Police Department says 63-year-old Bobby Shumaker was parked in the child pick-up line at Lancaster Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon, when he got out of his car, walked down to the end of the street behind a service station and made a drug transaction in view of officers before returning to his car.

As officers approached him, they say he threw approx 10 Hydrocodone tablets into the parking lot of the elementary school.

Officers got a search warrant and went to Shumaker’s home where police say they found 2,300 pills and more than $8,000 in cash.

Shumaker is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree wanton endangerment.
