Police: Richmond home surrounded after police hear gunfire
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- Richmond Police say a home in the 400 block of North Second Street was surrounded after a Sheriff’s Deputy heard gunfire Wednesday morning.
Police say the Deputy was close by at the jail when that shot was fired around 2 a.m.
Officials say, neighbors told police they saw a man walking back and forth on North Second Street with a gun.
Police were given a name of an individual that fit that description and searched the area, according to investigators.
Kentucky State Police, S.W.A.T, the Sheriff’s department, Richmond Police and the Fire Department were called to the home where Police believed that individual lived.
The home was surround for nearly two hours as police searched for the individual, but found no one fitting that description. According to Police, neighbors living there say there was no disturbance at the home overnight.
Police say they never located the subject and found no evidence of a crime.
The search ended at around 3:45 Wednesday morning. Police say the incident is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
